The Mamcepaz project, the municipality of San Pedro de Tutule, and the community of Lepaguare have completed the construction of two sanitary modules at the "Miguel Paz Barahona" Rural Mixed School and the "Abraham Israel Suazo" Kindergarten. The construction investment amounts to US$1,700.00 and will benefit more than 200 students and teachers who will now have access to proper restrooms and handwashing stations. Each module consists of three (3) universally accessible, age-friendly restrooms and handwashing stations. With the construction of these modules, we are not only reducing the risk of Covid-19 transmission (through handwashing at the handwashing station) but also preventing gastrointestinal illnesses that can arise from inadequate restroom conditions. Rather, we improve the quality of life, prevent school dropout among girls by providing a safe place during their period, and promote gender equality, well-being, and the empowerment of children regarding their rights. This is the beginning of the 16 educational centers where we will build these sanitation service modules and continue changing lives in the department of La Paz.

Launch of Methodological Proposal for Measurement IWRM to municipal level

The Global Water Partnership (GWP), the Para Todos Por Siempre (PTPS) movement, and the Ministry of Natural Resources (Mi Ambiente), along with intermunicipal associations, cooperating partners, and key municipal stakeholders, participated in the launch of the Methodological Guide Tool for «Measuring the Implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) at the Municipal Level.» The Methodological Guide stems from the interest of GWP Central America and the Para Todos Por Siempre movement in facilitating the evaluation and reflection process surrounding IWRM implementation from a municipal perspective, one that brings together diverse local actors.
