Construction of two school health modules in San Pedro de Tutule, La Paz

One of the objectives within the project "Towards For All Forever in the Department of La Paz" is the Improvement of the existing water and sanitation infrastructure in 16 educational centers. Water For People, Mamcepaz, the municipality of San Pedro de Tutule and the community of Lepaguare have achieved the construction of two of the health modules of the "Miguel Paz Barahona" Mixed Rural School and the "Abraham Israel Suazo" Kindergarten.

The construction investment amounts to US$ 1,700.00 and will benefit more than 200 students and teachers who will now have decent bathrooms and their respective handwashing stations. Each module is made up of three (3) period-friendly, universally accessible restrooms and handwashing stations.

With the construction of these modules, we are not only reducing the risk of contagion by Covid-19 (washing hands at the washing station), or avoiding gastrointestinal diseases that may be generated by not having a bathroom in adequate conditions. But we improve the quality of life, we prevent girls from dropping out of school by having a safe place during their period, we promote gender equality, well-being and the empowerment of boys and girls about their rights.

This is the beginning of the 16 educational centers in which we will build these health service modules and continue changing lives in the department of La Paz.
